Junior student Robert Rushing claimed he encountered a ghost that brought him down. He said that the incident happened when he was a security guard at a church. He noticed the ghost in the rafters and then it dropped down and passed through him.
Rushing said that during the incident, the skin of his chest got ice cold and he could feel that ice cold feeling in motion, traveling all over his body. His heart started to palpitate and he hit the ground.
The incident made art junior Rushing think that paranormal activity is really happening.
Rushing is forming a Paranormal Studies organization on campus intended for those who are interested in ghosts or paranormal activity. The group will meet to talk about ghosts, watch ghost hunting video and perhaps form a team of paranormal investigators. Rushing own an EVP (electronic voice phenomenon) equipment used to determine sounds impossible to hear by human ear.
If the group decides to do paranormal investigation, it will never go far. Rushing said that UTA has areas on campus that are known to be haunted.
Rushing said that he does not like to conduct investigation in the cemetery because spirits like to stay in places where they were most active when they were still alive. He explained that energy draws paranormal activity and it has been left everywhere by people, animals and plants.
Assistant physics professor Chris Jackson said anything that has mass can be converted into energy. He added that physical forces are technically measured by energy.
Rushing hopes that by starting Paranormal Studies organization, scientific interest will spark in paranormal studies.
Rushing said that mainstream science considers paranormal studies as subjects that deal with religion, the reason why they are not part of science.
Jackson said that energy has explanation in physics but spiritual energy is not defined. He added that such energy is not something that can be measured in a laboratory.
