A group of local ghost busters known as the Ghost Hunters of Southern Tennessee Paranormal (G.H.O.S.T. Paranormal) stayed overnight along with their high-tech devices at the Temperance Building, Harriman’s oldest building. They claim to have witnessed paranormal activity in the area and took a picture of apparition as well as recordings on talking ghosts.
Founder of G.H.O.S.T. Paranormal Richard Ruland said that once the City Council approves the released of that so called evidence of ghostly activity in the building, it will certainly bring fear at the same time excitement to most people.
Ruland said that his group, composed of 11 members, spent overnight at the building on December 17. They were fully equip with devices necessary for detecting ghosts including infrared and ordinary cameras as well as recorders known as electromagnetic field reader.
They took more than 800 pictures on their stay at the building and in one shot there was an “orangey-white mist” that seems to be a man with his coat. The apparition they caught on the picture was vanished quickly, according to Ruland. Additionally, the group members claim that they captured ghosts talking on their audio recording device.
The team is just waiting for the approval of the council to allow members to visit again the building and eventually take tours at night for a fee. Part of the proceeds of the tours would be added as funds on the building’s restoration.
The Temperance Building was built in 1891 and for many years it is the place of ghost rumors that are said to inhabit the building. Harriman Mayor Chris Mason said that he has doubts about ghost stories at the building but he is aware that many people like such stories. Mason expressed his interest to help in the restoration of the building describing it as neat old building with lots of history.
Ruland revealed that his group was invited to conduct a show titled “My Ghost Story” which will be held at the Arts and Entertainment Network. The Temperance Building would be featured upon the approval of the city’s council.
