Ghost Hunting Experiences by Gavin McInally

Until now, Gavin still carries his experience of witnessing a creepy man lurking on a shadow outside his old house when he was Six years old. According to him, maybe he still carries it because his mother didn’t keep the Nightmare on Elmer Street video tape on a secured drawer.

For him, every time he is in the absence of light, he always felt uncomfortable and suspicious of what’s making the noise.

According to him, his discomfort in the dark has nothing to do with ghost and haunted homes stories.

Gavin was also one of many dwellers who claimed of paranormal experiences when Scottish and British Paranormal Association had come to visit Paisley. He then proudly introduces himself to them and told them that he never afraid of ghosts.

The small association was invited by Scottish Spiritualist and Holistic Church in Argyle Street, Paisley to investigate paranormal activities within the area.

The small association had begun setting up their equipments with cameras, flashlights, monitors, noise detectors and Electro Magnetic Field device.

After a while, Gavin McInally experienced his first paranormal experience.

“And it didn’t take long before I experienced my first otherworldly encounter as ‘orbs’ – a technical term for small blobs of light – appeared on the flatscreen TV mounted on the church wall which was recording proceedings in the empty room next door.” he wrote.

But according to the Scottish and UK Paranormal Association member, David Roy, the orbs may be best explained as a dust present in the air.

“They say that 99 percent of orbs can be explained by dust in the air but it’s when they start omitting their own light that we know they are orbs and that is the first sign of the manifestation of a ghost or spirit.” Roy explained to McInally.

After witnessing the orbs on a recorded video, they began to split into three groups carrying on with their own torches and dictaphones. Gavin joined with Glasgow pals, Cecilia Connelly and Suzie.

“The five of us headed into a former studio for an hour, hoping to make some recordings of our own in the dark... We joined hands in a bid to build up the energy in the cold room as we prepared to get in touch with the ‘other side.’” said Gavin

According to them, the spirits were not in a cooperative mood, no signs of light turning on, temperature changing or even knocking the wall instead, Cecilia experienced a feeling of a dog running around her feet and chilling tap on Tam shoulders. The association concluded that it was a sign that they have overstayed their welcome.

“I even found myself getting carried away with the experience, barking orders at our lazy spirit hosts to show themselves before we gave up on them and continued our hunt elsewhere.” said Gavin.

Just a short time after, they grouped with the organizer Ian Williams and place their finger on an at rest glass tumbler on a wooden table.

The tumbler begun to move slowly away from the center while Tam was asking if there is a child in the room and the spirit was happy.

Furthermore, their ritual was distracted when a screaming voice took place on a silent scenario.

“We hurried into the main room, where two women were standing, visibly shaken.” Gavin said after the distraction.

Ian told the team, “Two people were simultaneously taken over by a bad spirit or shadow and we had to get them both out of there and out of the building as quickly as possible to give them a chance to recover.”

A 23-year-old Kirsty Taylor and Steph Roy were the two woman who were taken by the shadow. After gaining the equanimity, they began to share their experiences to the team.

“There’s a bad, bad man in that room and he wanted us out, so he channeled through me to get his way...It has happened to me before, when I was much younger, and I was able to use that experience and push him away...That sort of thing can be really frightening. I once had a spirit follow me all the way home but I’m strong enough now to control them.” Kirsty shared.

Then suddenly the gloves turned off.

Ian had already warned Gavin before the ghost hunting that he will encounter paranormal activity crash courses with a variety of spooks from relatively-harmless poltergeists to demonic entities.

Ian was feared that they might be trapped on that scenario since the spirit was once a murderer and a child abuser when he was still alive.

With a full equipped device from cameras, torches, EMF, walkie-talkies, sonic ear, two flashing cones and baby monitor, Gavin was confident since he was surrounded by paranormal veterans while on a 2am stand off on the spiritualist room.

Nevertheless, the mood begun to change as the shadow targeted Cecilia. Cecilia immediately moves and secured herself in the kitchen. Kirsty performs chants that would keep him away.

Afterwards, Tam was irritated and insulted the ghost, provoking him with saying “coward!” and “scum!”

The shadow disappeared and the investigation ends. Gavin was so proud for himself of experiencing ghost hunting with brave paranormal veterans.
“Personally, I was proud to go the distance on my first paranormal investigation ... even if I did end up holding hands with the others the entire time!” he wrote on his article.
