Famous Ghosts at Glamis Castle

Glamis Castle is situated in Scotland close to the village of Glamis, 5 miles west of Forfar. Many ghost tales surrounding the castle which are associated to its history. Even before the castle was constructed, this old land was the location of many historical incidents that have been traced back as far as the Picts' habitation in Scotland. The following are the famous ghosts that said to wander all over the castle.

A Grey Lady is said to haunt at the family chapel who is said to be the ghost of Lady Janet Douglas. She was burned to death in 1537 at Castle Hill, Edinburgh in 1537 on allegations of planning to poison the King. It is likely that the allegations were created for political reasons. A ghostly appearing figure has been seen fairly lately in the chapel by different witnesses. She is also said to show up over the Clock Tower.

The ghost of a lady without a tongue is reported to haunt the around the castle, and to peek out from a prohibited window somewhere inside the castle. She passes across the grounds, pointing at her severely injured face. There is no idea as to who the woman might be.

A little black boy, the ghost of a Black servant who was severely handled about 200 years ago, haunts a stone chair by the front door of the Queen's room.

The ghost of Earl Beardie, who is likewise recognized as Alexander, Earl Crawford, has been documented. Apparently he was a vicious and evil man, most likely coming from his rebellion towards James II. His spirit is said to roam the castle.
